Six styles of eye wear

Eye glasses are one way that millions of people correct their vision. Whether or not you wear them all of the time, taking care of your glasses can ensure they work properly for you. Here are a few simple tips for caring for your glasses.

Simple Tips for Cleaning Your Glasses

Keeping your glasses clean of dirt, dust, and smudges is a constant battle. But it must be done to help them allow you to see properly. When your lenses are dirty, it can strain your eyes to see through them.

When cleaning them it is important to rinse your lenses with water before wiping them. Dust particles or dirt can settle on a dry lens and be abrasive if wiped.

Only sprays made specifically for eye glasses should be used to clean them. Never use household cleaners. Chemicals in those cleaners, such as ammonia, can tear off the coating of a lens.

It is also important to use the right cloth for wiping your lenses clean. Never use paper towels, napkins, or tissues when cleaning your glasses because these materials can easily scratch your lenses.

Repair or Replace?

When cleaning your glasses, it’s extremely important to grip them tightly so they are not dropped or bent in the process. If this happens, you may need to repair your glasses or outright replace them.

Repairing your glasses can be easy if it’s a simple screw that came out. Many stores sell repair kits to repair glasses.
