After people suffer from vision loss, there are several everyday tasks they must learn how to do all over again. One of those daily tasks is applying makeup and care products to your face.
If you are blind or suffer from partial vision loss there are several tips to help you properly and safely apply cosmetics.
Start by investing in a magnifying mirror, which can help you see more clearly while applying cosmetics. Even a lighted mirror with a flexible gooseneck can help you if you suffer from low vision. Keep a small bowl or container nearby to hold your applicators, tops, and lids when you are applying cosmetics. This can help to keep everything in one place and prevent them from rolling or falling off your work surface.
Additionally, use something to cover yourself and your clothing from dropped or spilled cosmetics. A towel on your lap, makeup cap, or even an oversized shirt can save your clothing if you drop anything.
It’s Okay to Ask for Help
If you happen to become discouraged or don’t feel comfortable applying makeup or other products to your face, remember that it’s okay to ask for help. Have a friend or family member help you out or find a salon you trust.
