Do you have a young child who is set to get their first pair of eyeglasses? This can be an intimidating and challenging adventure. Here are some tips to (hopefully) make this task seem less daunting.
Start at the Beginning
The primary concern for your child’s eyeglasses should always be the prescription lenses, the reason they need glasses in the first place.
Consult with your child’s eye care provider about the strength of lens your child needs as well as the possibility of introducing transition lenses (if applicable). When selecting the correct lenses, make sure they are impact-resistant and have UV protection.
Selecting the best frame for your child may be the exciting part for all involved. Have your child try on several different glasses. Find a modern, attractive style for them to feel comfortable. You may even be able to request their favorite color.
You may need to consider whether your child will be better with plastic or metal frames. Think of how responsible your son or daughter is with their toys and how active they are when making this decision. It may even be a wise investment to purchase a backup pair of glasses if you have doubts about the original glasses lasting for a long time.
